Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Mid-week adventure!
For the LTC campers, the morning activity consisted of a multi activity event named Odd Ball Olympics. It involves various games such as obstacle course, paper airplane flight, tug of war and other activities. We play these games with the objective of teaching the students, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and patience.
One of the leadership lessons we teach in the program is dealing with anxiety and resilience in a variety of situations and environments. The campers accepted these challenges with enthusiasm.
In the afternoon the group travelled to take part in a rafting excursion on a nearby river. At the base the campers changed into 2-piece wet suits and got in boats in groups of 6. They would race each other down the river tackling various obstacles. Whilst on the river, they stopped at a landing point, they were given the opportunity to float down the river, they did this both individually and then as a group.
After returning to camp and having their evening meal, the campers got changed and went down to the local ice rink to take part in ice skating, alongside the blue campers. They took part in this activity with the blues, helping to develop friendships outside of the LTC group and program.
