Summer Camp Santa Cruz, Portugal
Look a dolphin!
After an early wake-up and breakfast, campers hopped on the bus to Setúbal. Once there we boarded a boat for an exciting dolphin-watching trip in the bay. We were very lucky, there were plenty of dolphins to see The early wake up was finally worth it!
The Estuary near Setúbal is home to one of the only resident bottlenose dolphin populations in Europe. They live in the estuary year-round, unlike many other dolphin groups that migrate. We were very lucky because the dolphins swam very close to the boat but we needed to be quiet in order not to scare them away.
Afterward, the boat dropped us off in Tróia, where the campers had some free time to explore. Some chose to swim in the ocean, while others relaxed on a café terrace and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
We then headed back to camp and ended the day with a fun and refreshing pool party.
