Summer Camp YPO-JLU

9th July 2019

Happy Tuesday!

We woke up above the clouds. At 7am, our councillor Bri led us in a morning sunrise yoga at the mountain hut. It was an amazing experience to sleep outside the village of Leysin and on an actual mountain! This mountain gave us such panoramic views that was stunning to just stretch and meditate in front of.

Then we had delicious alpine breakfast and took a cable car all the way to the top of the Moleson mountain summit! We were literally on top of the whole mountain and felt like we were on top of the world. We got to see as far as France in the very distance, but also got to spend lots of time with everyone taking in such a breath-taking panoramic views from all corners of the summer!

Right after coming back from the mountain hut and having lunch, Nigel Risner welcomed the campers to a new day back in Leysin. Nigel is a motivational speaker, who uses animals as a metaphor to reflect your interpersonal and professional communication style. Communication is one of our key cornerstone at camp - whether you’re creatively active like a Monkey, data-driven analytical like Elephants, emotionally empathic like dolphins, and lions who are natural leaders and by the book. He’s about being yourself and grasping the opportunity as you are here and to have him as a speaker this morning was truly inspirational to the campers.

We ended the night playing laser tag - it was so funny running around in the dark with a light up neon glowing arena. To do it in the alps with multiple teams competing against each other in complete darkness was really fun! The campers already can’t wait for tomorrow’s adventures.
