Summer Camp YPO-JLU
Never-ending Adventure
We started another beautiful day in Switzerland off by pushing our limits on the river activities. Half the team went canyoning and the other half went rafting. There’s truly nothing like the fresh alpine air and the wild rush of the crystal blue water to jump start our adrenaline. The rafting went down several rapids and through various scenic canyons. Two rafts raced each other, as we chanted “V.C, 1, 2, 3!” To coordinate with our team mates on the boat to swiftly push our paddles in the water just faster and closer down the river.
After our rafting and canyoning, we were back at a beautiful picnic site, where we had a cookout BBQ - chicken, sausage, corn, potatoes, you named it - we grilled it! The campers played volleyball and slacked line their balance, resting in the summer sun.
Right after lunch we drove a small medieval Swiss village, Gruyere. It was an amazing time exploring the castle, roaming around pretending we are in Beauty and the Beast and just drinking fresh alpine water from the fountain. After we went to the site where we would be going up for the mountain hut. The mountain hut is a YPO-JLU long time traditional where we sleep in a traditional old Swiss hut in the mountains. This is where we play games and activities such as camp fire, take scenic walks, watch Swiss cows grazing ever so calmly in the hillside, and then as a team - take in the mellowly soothing sunset over the mountains.
At night some people had hot chocolate and played card games before bed, with everyone looking forward to tomorrow’s mountain hike.
