Summer Camp YPO-JLU

Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so… Get on your way! The councillors of this year YPO-JLU’s leadership programme were giddy all week setting up camp with jungle walls and everything ready for the campers. And then within 24 hours, everyone descended into Geneva - from the air, the train, zipping through the back roads to the Alpine Classic Hotel in Leysin.
Upon arrival, our campers from around the world (Hello Canada, Kenya, Czech Republic, Lebanon, Mexico, USA, Colombia, the UK!!!) were greeted with a kaleidoscope of cheer and colours, councillors greet and meet. They dropped off their bags and then hit the ground running, some straight to the pool to cool off from the summer heat while others crafted their personality into name tags.
We then had our first meal together in the dining hall - in what looks like a traditional Swiss cabin mixed with Hogwarts tucked away in the mountains with an abundance of delicious food. Buffet style! We even had our own personal roast beef chef.
In the evening we played icebreakers games to get to know everyone - it was a flurry of giggles and introductions. From name games to silly get to know each other games, everyone was smiling and breaking out of their shells throughout the session.
By 22:00 the campers were headed to their rooms to wrap up their first night at camp - already ecstatic and looking forward to this upcoming week ahead.
- Breakfast: Selection of bread, cheese, yogurts, museli
- Lunch: Chicken in mushroom sauce, glazed carrots, mashed potatoes, salad
- Dinner: Roast beef, salad, peas and carrots
