Summer Camps in Austria, Canada, England, France, Portugal & Switzerland
All campers choose a country and base programme for their stay, and with a few exceptions these activities are during the morning period of 3 hours. For the rest of the day campers from all programmes come together for a variety of general camp activities. For more information about individual programmes, please choose below.
Our home is the pretty village of Piesendorf, nestling in the spectacular mountain and lakeside scenery of the Austrian Alps. Imagine boating on the tranquil lake of Zell am See and looking high into the mountains above to see the permanent snows of the Kitzsteinhorn, a real glacier! The welcoming Village Camps Austrian base is limited to just 80 campers who quickly become a ‘family’ in the hands of the caring Village Camps’ counsellor team. Campers choose from our innovative English and German language courses, the thrilling Adventure Camp or the unique, highly acclaimed Film Academy. It all adds up to a friendly, fun time with so much to do. Campers tell us that the most thrilling experience is the evening camp-fire and overnight stay in a mountain hut high into the Alps.
Other highlights are the excursions to Salzburg, right in the heart of ‘The Sound of Music’ country and the birthplace of Mozart. There are also "mini-excursions" for each camp which have a direct relationship to the camp.
The very special Chalet Notburgahof is the home of Village Camps Austria. With good sized multi-bedded rooms (2-5 per room) and ensuite facilities, its very own gymnasium, all-weather tennis courts, an outdoor challenge course, wonderful chefs and great food, this is the ideal camp location.
Limited to 80 campers in four exciting programmes - English/German Language camp, Film Camp and Adventure camp, the congenial atmosphere in this small village chalet could not be better. The view of the snow-capped mountains in the near distance is to die for.
Within easy walking distance is a super-sports complex that is part of the facilities available to campers. Included within the complex are a beautiful swimming pool, water slides, beach volleyball court, football pitch, 4 clay tennis courts, outdoor snooker, trampolines and an evening campfire site. Great hiking & biking trails abound.
At Village Camps campers are assigned to groups according to age and/or skill levels. The morning period of 3 hours is devoted to the campers specialty programme (German Language, English Language, Film Academy or Adventure). During the afternoons campers from all programmes join an array of exciting activities. Certain afternoons the children can “sign-up” for an activity of their choice while other days, age group and all-camp activities are organized. The evening programmes offer a variety of fun and challenging events that help build team spirit.
All children will have the chance to take part in the film production that goes on at camp. Throughout each session the Film Academy Director will work to include all aspects of camp from activities to language classes to be included in the end of session camp film.
Meals are provided in the chalet’s spacious and comfortable family-style dining room. Each session a barbecue offered on the outdoor terrace.
Evenings are filled with exciting and imaginative games, spectacular events and relaxing activities. These include:
Discos
Indoor Olympics
Team-building Challenges
Games geared to age levels
Village Outings
and much, much more...
Several popular and informative excursions are planned with the actual number to take place depending upon the weather and desires of campers. Some of the choices are:
Salzburg
Birthplace of Mozart - An excursion day to Salzburg is held once per session. Campers are introduced to Austrian culture thanks to visits to historic sites as well as to current ones. Trip includes visit to:
Bishop’s Palace at Hellbrun
Salt Mines at Hallein
Shopping in Salzburg
Dropping in three stages a total of 380 metres, it is the only Austrian landmark to receive the European parliament’s Nature Preservation Diploma in 1967.
The highlight of the camp: an exciting hike through the scenic Austrian Alps culminating with an overnight stay in a traditional mountain hut in the area with breath-taking views over the valley below.
