Summer Camp Ardèche, France
Grande Descente!
Day 1 The Grande Descente morning was filled with lots of excitement and energy! We all had a wonderful breakfast, after which we all jumped into our canoes and headed off to what would be a day full of fun and adventure.
We had lunch at a beautiful beach under the Gorge, and everyone got some time to hang out, cliff jump or relax after the exciting rapids. We arrived to the Bivouac, and while some of us prepared the delicious barbeque dinner, the campers enjoyed an afternoon cliff jumping, playing cards or games such as Pulse. We all ate dinner in hungry silence, followed by an evening of VC skits, where the campers got to act out funny little plays in small teams, after which they were rewarded with a Banan Boat . Before bed, we all enjoyed story time under the stars!
Day 2 The little dudes woke up after a good night rest, and got ready for another day paddling on the Ardeche River. We all learned the story of Madeleine, a princess who died for love and whose spirit is still in the rapid named after her. Some campers got to do a little hike after lunch, and got to see stunning Knights Templar ruins! We all paddled and paddled and, with much effort, we arrived to Sauze, where a bus picked us up (and where many of us enjoyed a well-deserved nap).
Dinner time was suddenly interrupted by an Ardeche storm, which gradually became a rainstorm dance party! The day was topped off with movie night! We watched the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
Thank you everyone for these two days full of amazingness! Again, it is hard to explain all the fun moments, bursts of laughter and good food that we all shared, so please check out the photos, because a picture is worth a thousand words.
