Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland
Excursion Day at VIllage Camps!
Its excursion day for the whole camp with our three colour groups heading far and wide to explore a little more of Switzerland, it's cities, it's culture and it's delicious chocolate!
The Yellows headed to Broc to explore "Le Maison de Cailler", a chocolate museum that is the birthplace to Switzerland's most beloved chocolate "Cailler". The groups were taken on an interactive tour exploring the history of Cailler chocolate before discovering and tasting the raw ingredients used in this iconic brand, later they got to see the chocolate being made, and of course no chocolate factory tour would be complete without a taste test! After a few tasty treats they walked to a picturesque picnic spot amongst the picturesque hills of Gruyere and were then quickly whisked off to Vevey to enjoy a little shopping before returning to camp for popcorn and a movie.
The Reds spent the day exploring "Nest" a museum dedicated to Henri Nestle creator of one of Switzerland's world renowned brand "Nestle", in this very modern museum you are taken on an interactive tour through time following the life of Henri Nestle. Nest offers an enjoyable mix of interactive games and activities designed to educate and entertain whilst learning all about the history of Nestle and taking a fascinating look at the advancements of modern technologies that revolutionised the manufacturing world. After their tour they jumped aboard their coach and spent some time exploring the vibrant city of Lausanne, they roamed through Lausannes medieval shop lined streets taking in the incredible views and beautiful gothic architecture before heading back for a relaxing evening at camp.
The Blues had a huge day, with their first stop being the world famous Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The Museum is crammed full of fascinating exhibits and artefacts with everything from original photography, Olympic medals and the original torches that were carried by athletes throughout the world, they explored the Olympics rich history and enjoyed interactive games along the way. After some free time to explore Lausanne they headed to Aigle for dinner and afterwards visited the awesome Fun Planet, an incredible complex filled with activities like Karting, Laser Tag, Bowling, Virtual Experiences, Games and much more!
