Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland
Happy Swiss National Day!
Today is Swiss National Day and the hills are alive with the sound of traditional Alphorns and high spirited locals celebrating everything that makes this beautiful country so unique!
This morning the campers set aside their alarm clocks and awoke to the customary sound of a Canon salute to mark this special day. After a hearty breakfast the Yellows joined our Climbing specialist Louanne for a morning of climbing at the Quarry while the Reds were busy packing their picnic and lacing their hiking shoes as they set off on their overnight Mountain Hut hike.
They would take on a challenging day hike to the summmit of Pic Chaussy (reaching at an incredible altitude of 2,351m) and after taking in the incredible panoramic views at the top it was time to descend and settle in to their rustic rural mountain hut where they would spend their evening roasting Marshmellows by the fire and settle in for a peaceful nights sleep in the hills.
In the afternoon the campers were given a huge variety of activities to choose from, the Yellows ventured out to the Sports Centre where they enjoyed some Archery and Street Hockey while the Blues relaxed with fun and games in the bouldering wall and cooled off with a swim in the pool. The Reds that remained at camp hit the courts and enjoyed some time in the sun in a friendly game of Tennis.
The Yellows had a special treat this evening as they were visited by a local Zoo Keeper, but "oh no!" the animals have escaped! It was up to our Yellows to outsmart the crazy critters and return them safely to our Zoo Keeper.
- Breakfast: Porridge, cereals, toast, fresh fruit and juices
- Lunch: Chicken Curry, Rice, Pasta, Tomato Sauce & Salad Bar, Creme Brulee & Coconut Cake for desert
- Dinner: Meat kebab, peas, potatoes, pasta, pasta sauce and salad bar, profitables
