Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland

31st July 2010

Excursion Day!

Finally we had a bright sunny day and it couldn't have come at a better time. Today was excursion day which meant all the campers left Leysin in their colour groups to experience some of Switzerland's finest attractions.

The Green and Yellows joined together for their excursion to the Cailler chocolate factory. They had a tour of the factory, it showed a short history of Cailler, the manufacturing process and then there was a room dedicated to chocolate tasting with loads of free samples. After filling up on free chocolate the Greens and Yellows travelled to Fribourg by coach for some retail therapy. Once the kids had finished shopping they headed back to camp just in time for dinner. A game of Fruit Salad followed dinner, this consisted of team games where the campers had to use various fruits to complete tasks.

The Reds and Blues both started their days in Lausanne, the Reds started at the Olympic Museum and the Blues started in the town where they had free time to shop. The Museum had a lot of very fun interactive games which all kids enjoyed. They could test their reaction times, memory, balance and much more. After lunch the groups switched, the Reds went shopping and Blues headed to the Museum. Once the Reds had finished shopping they travelled back to camp in time for dinner, however the Blues jumped on a boat and sailed to Geneva. Once in Geneva the Blues had more free time to explore the Fetes de Geneve, all along the banks of the lake their were stalls, shops, concerts and a mix of foods. The Blues were given money to purchase their own food for dinner instead of going back to camp.

We are all hoping that the good weather will stay, fingers crossed.
