Summer Camp England
International night!!
International night is all about respect and inclusion. Every year, we have campers from all around the world here at Village Camps York, and International Night is a great chance for everyone to learn more about the other campers' nationalities. But before that, let's have a look at what happened during the rest of the day.
In the morning, every programme carried out their specific activities on and off-site. Horse riders have already began jumping, golfers are getting better every day and our adventurers enjoyed a scavenger hunt while getting ready for tomorrow's camp out! Our youngest campers, the greenies, went climbing and at 12 we enjoyed lunch all together.
After lunch it was time for the Yellow vs Counsellors football match! What a game! After a very tight score, the counsellors won the game with a golden goal Hooray! On Thursday and Friday we will also have our all-camp basketball and football match against counsellors, can't wait!
Afternoon activities went from volleyball and Gaelic football to zumba. Session D was fully dedicated to International Night preparation and two volunteers from each country worked really hard in the kitchen to represent their nation's favorite dish! Cooking for 250 people isn't easy, but they did an amazing job.
Finally, it was time for International Night. First, each team had the chance to try all the national dishes prepared earlier on and enjoyed some great time dancing on stage with our counsellors. Then, each country was called to perform and had 3 minutes to display something that represented their nation. It was amazing to see so much variety; we had singing, theater, anthems, dancing... We can only thank everyone for their amazing work and for teaching us a little bit more about your great nations.
