Summer Camp England
International Night!!
International night is all about respect and inclusion. Every year, we have campers from all around the world here at Village Camps York, and International Night is a great chance for everyone to learn more about the other campers' nationalities. But before that, let's have a look at what happened during the rest of the day.
In the morning, each programme carried out its specific activities on and off-site. Adventure went climbing and rafting and the Leadership programme campers went to play Paintball, it was so much fun! We enjoyed lunch all together and it was then time for a very exciting afternoon! Our junior campers went to the Summit Indoor Activity Center, a great space for them to explore and have fun in a safe environment.
After lunch it was time for the Yellow vs Counsellors football match! What a game! After a score of 7-7, the campers won the match on penalties. On Friday we will also have our Red & Blue Footballers match against counsellors and this time there will be no mercy ;)
Afternoon activities went from volleyball and tie dye to frisbey and pitch games. Session D was fully dedicated to International Night preparation and two volunteers from each country worked really hard in the kitchen to represent their nation's favorite dish! Cooking for 250 people isn't easy, but they did an amazing job.
Finally, it was time for International Night. First, each team had the chance to try all the national dishes prepared earlier on and enjoyed some great time dancing on stage with our counsellors. Then, each country was called to perform and had 3 minutes to display something that represented their nation. It was amazing to see so much variety; we had singing, theater, anthems, dancing... even a fashion show! It was definitely one of the best International Nights we've had and we can only thank everyone for their amazing work and for showing us the particularities of your great nations.
Tomorrow a day full of excursions awaits, we'll keep you posted!
