Summer Camp England
Big night is coming...
Things are getting pretty exciting at camp! And with the British weather on our side all activities are being carried out just like planned. After a lovely breakfast; golfers, riders and adventurers went off-site for some cool activities, like rafting and gorge walking. The rest of programmes also had a great time, highlighting a special training session for the basketball team, which spent part of the morning in the swimming pool :)
Then, lunch came and everyone enjoyed some delicious TACOS!! And who doesn't love tacos?? In the afternoon, our campers from the Leadership programme went on an excursion to York for some treasure hunting around the city center. What a great chance to develop their communication and orientation skills! The rest of campers enjoyed some large group activities, like Dead ant tag, arts and crafts or capture the flag.
At our 3 PM meeting we had a specially hilarious Kangaroo Court, which was pretty much enjoyed by all campers and staff, so thank you very much to the volunteers of the day! At the end of the meeting, we made a very excitement announcement... TOMORROW IS BIG NIGHT! So all campers were divided in 8 groups representing a random color and topic. The theme for this year's big night is "Medieval", so some examples of teams were The Green Lords, The Yellow Knights or The Red Ratcatchers!
Teams spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for their 3 minute performances. VCTV members will be reporting how that went ;) In the evening, the Yellows enjoyed some time in our recreational center, Muggles; the Reds spent some time at the swimming pool and table tennis area; and the Blues learnt a bit about self-defense and played a great game of dodge ball.
- Breakfast: Scrambled eggs; choice of toast, cereals and fresh fruit :)
- Lunch: Tacos! Served with salsa, mexican rice and fried peppers (YUMM). Salad bar and lemon meringue for dessert.
- Dinner: Spiced chicken leg or halloumi kebabs, broccoli, corn on the cob and stewed maple apples.
