Summer Camp England

CARNIVAL NIGHT

Wow, what a night. Carnival Night was everything we expected it to be. Imagine lots of tiny little stores and activities, lots of games and a whole big community coming out to have fun, play hard and get to know each other even more ??? and that was the Village Camps York Carnival Night Experience.

We had Face Painting, a card and watermelon game, beat the crocodile game, zumba dancing classes, M&M???s game as well as an Inflatable Jousting Challenge and a Bucking Bull. Needless to say, fun was had by all. Some of the Blue boys even demonstrated a Zumba dance class in front of the whole camp at the end of Carnival Night to wrap up a fun filled evening.

Earlier today, the Activity and Adventure Programme travelled to the Leeds Sailing and Aquatic Centre close to our College. They split up into different groups and activities like canoeing and raft building. Whilst it was a little sunny (the first bit of sun this summer), the water was still cold and whilst many tried to stay dry, most of the rafts did not survive the water crossing. Lots of fun was had and stories were told on their return to camp.

The David Rivers VC Basketball Camp is going really strong this session with over 30 talented and energetic young Basketballers. In a shooting challenge in the morning session, the Yellow group of players very proudly beat all the others. Camp Director Glenn joined them when they attempted the challenge a second time, but unfortunately they did not win ??? he must have been a bad omen for them.

Tommorrow (Wednesday) we will do a story about the Leadership Training Course who will be going to Camp Hill Adventure Centre. This centre is designed to assist in developing Teamwork and leadership skills to achieve complex physical tasks. Stay tuned!!!!
