Summer Camp Ardèche, France

2nd July 2014

A day full of adventure in the Ardeche!

Last night we all lived through a typical, but rare, Ardeche thunderstorm! The campers woke up to a brisk but sunny morning, and prepared for a day full of exciting adventures.

The River campers stretched, crossed the river in a canoe and then headed off for a full day of caving in Grotte du Derocs; first campers of VC to ever explore it! They learned how limestone is formed, the impact of human beings and, as an extra challenge, they all worked as a team to find the exit of the cave.

Meanwhile, the French students learned how to describe themselves and the human anatomy, they played different linguistic games and also wrote in their daily journals. In the afternoon, they walked to a local climbing spot, where they developed their climbing skills and learned how to overcome tough challenges!

Chilling time was enjoyed by all of us. Some played card games, others ping-pong; a few very artistic campers painted a lovely mural and others preferred to go for a nice swim in the river. After a delicious dinner we all headed to the field to play - Extreme Games! The campers formed teams and were challenged to do the most exciting silly and funny things!

After snacks and story time, it is now time for all of us to get ready for bed. Good night to everyone, and thank you for today.

Living the funshine, every day!
