Summer Camp Ardèche, France

17th July 2013

Wet and fun day!

Today the campers woke up to a cool and wet Ardeche, as it stormed during the night. After a delicious breakfast, which included freshly made croissants, the campers headed off to their different activities.

The French Magpies spent the morning improving their French skills: reading, listening, speaking; and let s not forget, playing some language related games. In the afternoon they rock climbed, an challenging but rewarding activity that they all enjoyed very much! The Goats spent the day on the river, learning basic river skills while enjoying the fun rapids. The Rats started their day hiking to the top of the bluff overlooking camp through Le Bois des Egaux, after having painted a colourful flag which they later proudly planted. In the afternoon they participated in different choice activities such as badminton and arts&crafts, where they built pinatas that we will be using tomorrow evening!

After eating a wonderful and healthy dinner, the campers prepared themselves for tent inspection. Today s theme was Australia! Fortunately, it stopped raining and we all headed down to the meadow to play Canoe Commando, our most popular evening activity yet. This game involves tactics, teamwork and a whole lot of energy!

Today was an amazingly exciting day that we all truly felt. It is now story time and then off to bed! We cannot wait for tomorrow and all the adventures to come!

Phrase of the day: Stop and smell the roses.
