Summer Camp Santa Cruz, Portugal
Outdoor adventures are the best!
Today we had another wonderful day here at camp in Santa Cruz - although the sun did not join us until later in the afternoon the campers enjoyed a fun and active morning with their choice activities.
While some were competing in pool games, others were painting and designing a photo wall while learning about the primary colours and yet another group showed their skills at a ballgame session. The program allowed for everyone to try two out of these three activities and so our campers were very happy to go and recharge with some delicious lunch.
In the afternoon the surfers went back to the beach to make the most of the low tide and really had a good if challenging time today. The adventure campers enjoyed a session of outdoor living skills in a close by forest where they learned how to build a shelter with a tarp followed by an orienteering challenge which was rewarded with some fruit and chocolate, all prepared and enjoyed in that wonderful natural environment.
After dinner the campers headed down to the beach where they got to play a game of Sinbad the pirate with the entire camp! The game is a version of capture the flag - an all-time camp favourite. The excitement was high and the counsellors set the mood by dressing up as pirates which the campers celebrated and inspired for a good game.
That is all for today! Goodnight and until tomorrow!
