Summer Camp Santa Cruz, Portugal
Of tarps, sand-boards and the rock of Santa Cruz
While others might start their Saturday with a slow morning the village campers here in Portugal could not have been more active. We had another early start for the surfers on our programme while the adventure campers started the day with an outdoor living skills session. This included getting into groups to build shelters out of tarps where they learned about the different tarp shapes and their advantages. After that they had to use their orienteering skills to find the special treat of fruit and chocolate that they melted themselves to have a camper style fondue. Filled with new energy the adventure team got to try out sandboarding and then went back to the Pousada for a well-deserved lunch break.
Later it was time for the cliff discovery walk where the campers got the chance to examine the marine environment down at the shores of Santa Cruz. After climbing stairs and little paths they finally reached the landmark of Santa Cruz, the rock of Santa Cruz. While most campers were exploring the marine life under their feet, some campers were lucky enough to even spot some dolphins in the distance.
In the evening it was time for the campers to get into groups and prepare for the talent show which will be happening tomorrow night ??? the energy is high and excitement is in the air. As we hear the sounds of instruments and singing slowly fading out we are calling this a night here in Santa Cruz.
All the best and see you tomorrow!
