Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland

22nd June 2013

Excursion Day!

Today was excursion day! It was a chance for all the campers to leave Leysin for the entire day and explore some of the surrounding sights.

Everybody came together for the start of excursion day, all the campers boarded a coach that took them to the Cailler Chocolate Factory, a magical place where imagination is paired with presentations on the different stages in the Cailler chocolate production process, which are relayed as part of the interactive audiovisual guided tour. The past also comes to life through a selection of photographs that retrace the factory's history from its humble origins in 1898 right up to the 1960s.

After a chocolate filled tour the Greens and Yellows hopped aboard their bus and headed to Vevey for some shopping and games by the the beautiful Lake Geneva. The Reds and Blues moved to Gruyere for lunch, it is a beautiful typically Swiss town famous for its cheese, chocolate and art. The kids had a chance to explore the sights and do a little souvenir shopping then found a nice place to have their picnic lunch.

The Greens and Yellows went back to camp for dinner and a well deserved rest before their evening activity. They played Blue Meanies which is the counsellors favorite and soon becomes very popular with all the campers.

After refueling with food the Red and Blue campers headed to Fun Planet where they could bowl, go kart and play arcade games. After an action packed day they were all very happy to see their beds.
