Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland

29th July 2010

Rain, Rain Go Away!

The rain will not leave, every time the sun seems to be fighting through the cloud it rains again. However the rain hasn't stopped the fun even though it has changed some of our plans.

This morning the Sports campers and the Greenies played football/soccer up at the Mont Blanc pitch. The Red and Blue adventure campers had an exhilarating morning of mountain biking through the beautiful village of Leysin. The Yellow adventure campers had a morning in the wilderness, they learnt all about outdoor living skills and tried their hand at archery. As usual the language classes continued, with everyone improving their language skills. The dance campers were down in the auditorium again practising a routine that they will be performing on Prom Night. The Tennis campers met with Steve Loft of the Californian Tennis Academy, they warmed up, played games that improved their techniques and played a few matches.

The Yellows had an eclectic mix of activities to choose from in the afternoon, ranging from arts and crafts to climbing to tennis and swimming. The Reds had a short hike up the mountain to Le Temeley which is at an altitude of 1,700 metres. The Cornamusaz family, who lives there all summer, are always willing to have our campers come visit and sample their delicious cheeses. The Blues should have had an afternoon of Pedal Boats, however because of the rain they changed their plans and headed to an indoor water park instead. The little Green campers made postcards to send home and played team games down at the college gym.

The evening consisted of all indoor activities which was good because as predicted the heavens opened again. The Greenies had a movie night, the Yellows played dodgeball and the Reds and Blues went ice skating.
