Summer Camp England

7th August 2018

This is international night !

As every morning, our campers enjoyed different activities within their programs.
At 10 AM, English Program enjoyed 2 hours in the swimming pool, relaxing and playing.
Football program worked hard preparing for their match against the counsellors this afternoon. It was great to see them giving their best to win the match against the counsellors. And they did !

All programs are also getting ready for their excursions on the next day! English and Creative Arts are going to York in order to visit the Dungeons for the first one or an Art Gallery for our young artists.
Adventure is going to camp out tomorrow, having a night near the Ripley Castle, let's hope under a sky full of stars! After they packed their bag for this adventure, they played some games at the Camp as rocket building. They had to put some water in a bottle, then build wings and after pumped the rocket! More than one was surprised by its take-off! It was a lot of fun.

At 3 PM, we all prepared the event of the day : International Night! Some were in the kitchens to cook a national dish, others were in the Creative Arts room to paint flags, or elsewhere around the camp to get ready for the presentation and the whole performance!

After dinner, we got to taste all the wonderful dishes that the countries cooked for everyone. They had to prepare a tasting sample for 200 people! This requires a great organisation and planning skills but our campers did an amazing job. It was really tasty!

Then everybody head to the theatre for the countries' presentations. Each team, North and South America, Middle East and Africa, Europe and Asia owned the stage for 10 minutes. The presentations were very entertaining.
We laughed, we sang, we cheered, we've learned new interesting things. Not to forget the amazing banners and flags that the campers made for their performances. Or the powerful countries' hymns sang with proud. We were very impressed how talented these kids are.

We can say that the campers had a lot of fun celebrating the cultural diversity which symbolizes VC ! Each of them proudly presented a country even if it's not its own and learn a lot about each other's countries! This night is the perfect time to share a common moment beyond any cultural differences.
