Summer Camp England

7th August 2010

Departure Day

Saturday the 07th of July brought to a close not only a wonderful Session Three, but our entire season at Village Camps in York. I am sure that I speak on behalf of all the counsellors when I thank all the campers for their enthusiasm, energy, excitement and participation for the last two weeks.

Whilst we had a small group of campers this session, we still had amazing programmes, lots of fun, and everyone got to know each other a lot better.

The final night was incredible. After the Disco we returned to the accommodation where Jason, our programme director, led an impromptu sing along session, including songs that were sung during yesterday's Performing Arts performance. In the early hours the voices of over 20 campers and counsellors could be heard down the corridors.

Our departure day started very early and tears were plentiful. It was so hard to say goodbye to friends that only two weeks ago we did not know. However the positive thing about our Village Camps experience is that regardless of where we come from in the world, and the different things that influence our lives, we have come together and created relationships will be remembered forever and will last for a very long time.

All the counsellors on Saturday afternoon felt empty at not having the presence of so many campers on site. I believe that we have experienced another fantastic session, and a brilliant season in York. I thank everyone that has contributed to it and been actively involved within it. I hope you all share the same joy that I have had this year and would look forward to welcoming you all back in Village Camps York next year.
