Summer Camp England

2nd August 2010

Monday, Monday!

The Monday morning blues were no where to be seen this morning was the campers made their way to the secret garden to begin the first day of their final week here at Village Camps York. The campers set off to their morning programmes with Golf preparing for their big day tomorrow when they would be playing 18 holes on the golf course. The other programmes resumed as usual with English making progress on their newspaper and creating an interview to be rehearsed tomorrow.

After dinner the campers returned to their assigned colour groups to begin tonight's house activities. The Yellow house was all ready to begin an exciting night with extreme dodge-ball. They dressed themselves in the strangest clothes they could find and departed for the gym where they learned the five most important d's of dodgeball, dodge, dip, duck, dive and dodge.

Meanwhile the Red house had a fantastic night ahead of themselves with a pool party planned. They danced to music, played great pool games and splashed the night away.

However elsewhere at camp the Blue house had a much more endearing activity in action. They received a guest performer who would teach them the necessary skills for the Brazilian martial arts dance, capoeira. It involves sparring with another partner and practicing kicks, hits and takedowns with musical accompaniment. It is a dance derived from slaves in Africa and of course the campers were not permitted to perform any physical contact on another camper but it was definitely a brilliant night for all. Tonight???s activities were an incredible start to what will be an amazing last week at camp!
