Summer Camp England

Departure Day

Today is departure day so most of the campers head off to different parts of the world after having said goodbye to their friends of the last two weeks. There were hugs and tears and promises to stay in touch by e-mail and FaceBook and to meet up here in York at the same time next year. It was a great two weeks that won't soon be forgotten.

Friday was the last day of camp for session 2 of village camps York. Campers woke up at the usual time of 7 o'clock and after breakfast had their morning activities. Everyone was on site and golf and riding returned back earlier than usual so as everyone could prepare for the afternoon event which was to go and see a show performed by all the campers in performing arts. There were two showings of the play so everyone saw it at one of the showings. The play was very well done and appeared to be enjoyed by all. A lot of work and effort was put in to the show and it showed with the brilliant performance. The showing the campers were not at was spent packing for their departures.

After dinner was the awards ceremony. There were awards given to campers between the different programme groups and the different colour houses. It was an emotional night for some as the thoughts of going home entered some people???s minds. However faces were cheered up when the disco began after the awards. Both campers and councillors danced for hours together. Campers were allowed to sleep in the common rooms and watch movies together as one by one they left through out the night and following day. It was an emotional departures day for almost everyone including both the campers who were leaving and the councillors who were staying behind for session 3. Session 2 was a huge success and everyone will be dearly missed.
