Summer Camp England
Preparation for Big Day!
After meeting in the Secret Garden, campers went to their programme sites, while the Activities and Adventure programme went off site to a nearby water activity where they learned to make a raft.
In the afternoon, there were a lot of different activities that campers signed up for the night before. For Session C, some of the options included water polo, touch rugby, fashion and design, track and field, and football. It was a fun, yet very busy afternoon for the campers. Everyday they get a chance to do a range of different activities during session C and D.
The most exciting part of the day had to be when the campers found out which colour team they were in for Big Day. There was a slight alteration made for Big Day to adjust to the number of campers we had for this session. Instead of having the usual five colours, red, black, green, yellow and blue, they added a new colour -white! With the additional colour, Big Day promises to be even more exciting then ever!
After the all camp meeting, the campers found out which colour they were in for Big Day and split off to the assigned areas around the campus.
During this very important Big Day preparation, they had to come up with a march, a dance and catchy chants. Moreover, since every colour has their own theme such as pirates, wizards, super-heros, dinosaurs, and Vikings, they had to go to arts and crafts room to create the costumes and other very important accessories. In the evening, each house had their own evening programmes. The yellow house had their much anticipated pool party in the newly opened Genesis building, where the kids got to enjoy and swim in a new half-Olympic size pool, as well as a huge jacuzzi that can fit more then 20 people! The red house had a bake off. Campers were split up into different teams and had to bake a cake. The team that bakes the most delicious cake, wins!
The Blue house had an awesome evening activity as well. It was the extreme dodgeball night. The campers dressed in silly yet awesome outfits and also had their faces painted in different colours and patterns.
By the time the fun filled evening was coming to an end, campers were excited to go back to the accommodation and just sit back and chill out in their common rooms before heading to bed. Everyone had an awesome time, including the counsellors!
