Summer Camp Chiclana, Spain
International Night!
One of the best things about Village Camps is how international it is, and International Night brings out the best of that!
Today in the morning our campers headed to their morning programs! In adventure we headed to the beach for a breezy morning of sailing and kayaking. The campers were awesome at sailing and learned the ropes (and how to keep from capsizing) quickly.
Our language campers had an awesome scavenger hunt planned out for them by their teacher Marina, and then challenged Marina to complete one of their own!
This afternoon we started preparation for International Night. Campers separated into different regions: The Americas, Europe, and The Middle East and prepared for their performances. They brainstormed about what makes them unique, laughed, made decorations, talked about their favourite regional foods and shared traditional music and traditions.
Then we all gathered in El Pilar Patio for an evening of entertainment and learning. International night was awesome. It was wonderful to see everyone sharing so much pride for their homes, and eagerness to learn from each other about other places in the world. We saw dancing from Lebanon, learned about the rich culture in Ghana, heard the history of the United States, saw European countries compete in EuroVision Village Camps Edition, watched a master chef compete to make some Canadian poutine and more! It was great to see the campers exchanging ideas and passions and histories with each other.
