Sunday at camp - Mini descent, thunderstorm, chilling and crepes!

Pebble here again, reporting to you about our wonderful day here at VC Ardeche!

As it was Sunday, the day began with a well earned sleep in, with wakeup at 8.30 and a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, roasted tomatoes, and spinach, with breads and cereals and yoghurts. The plan was to have a morning of chilling, before heading out on the Mini descent this afternoon - a 4km trip from our basecamp through the Pont d'Arc and over to another takeout point, through 4 sets of rapids. However, as the forecast was for a mid-afternoon thunderstorm, we decided to take the safe option and left ahead of schedule!

Campers were all enthusiastic and helpful and we were on the river by 11.00 sharp. We began with a paddle across the river, we we beached up and talked tactics. Soon after, we were hitting the first rapid, Le Petit Doigt. Only one camper - Adam - fell out of the boat! We glided on through Les Bronches and finally around to Charlemagne rapids, before cruising under the Pont d'Arc and having lunch on the shore just afterwards.

Soon enough, we could hear rolling thunder and saw the clouds coming in - so started to get in to gear before it started raining. We made it to the takeout beach with enough time for a game of Whoosh, a Wildling original invention, and then had a quick icecream at the store and then on the bus. Once back at camp, we caught up with the Chill Out session we never had time for in the morning - some went to Vallon town to buy river gear, others learnt to crochet, the sports gear was out and Jules found a fishing line to go fishing!

Everybody reconvened for a delicious dinner, before continuing the chill trend into 'wellness evening' - a creperie was set up with toppings like Nutella and marshmallows, some inspirational climbing movies set up on the TV inside, and a pingpong table set out under the marquee. The chilling is continuing as I write, and I'm hoping to go and get a crepe before they run out - so, until tomorrow, see you later!
