Summer Camp Ardèche, France
Grande Descente!
Day 1 The Grande Descente morning was filled with lots of excitement and energy! We all had a wonderful breakfast, after which we all got on the bus and headed for Trois Eaux, where our canoes were waiting for us. We headed off to what would be a day full of fun and adventure. At the first stop we did Seal Launches, where the campers, in groups, would hop in a canoe placed at the top of the beach, and a counsellor would push them dooown to the river; everybody got wet and laughed a bunch!
We had lunch at a beautiful beach under the Gorge, and everyone got some time to hang out and relax after the exciting rapids. We arrived to the Bivouac quite early, and while some of us prepared the delicious barbeque dinner, the campers enjoyed an afternoon of games such as Mafia or Ninja. We all ate dinner in hungry silence, followed by a Roses and Thorns session with everyone, where we all got to share the best and not so good moments of the day. Before bed, we all enjoyed story time under the stars!
Day 2 The little dudes woke up after a good night rest, and got ready for another day paddling on the Ardeche River. We all learned the story of Madeleine, a princess who died for love and whose spirit is still in the rapid named after her. Some campers got to do a little hike after lunch, and got to see stunning Knights Templar ruins! We all paddled and paddled and, with much effort, we arrived to Sauze, where a bus picked us up (and where many of us enjoyed a well-deserved nap).
The day was topped off with movie night! We watched the Lego movie, and then some of the campers were allowed to watch Soccer World Cup game between the Netherlands and Argentina and.. Congrats Argentina!
Thank you everyone for these two days full of amazingness! Again, it is hard to explain all the fun moments, bursts of laughter and good food that we all shared, so please check out the photos, because a picture is worth a thousand words.
