Summer Camp Ardèche, France
Grand Descente!
We are back, safe and sound! These two last days have been full of adventure, positive energy and fun!
Yesterday morning we all jumped into our canoes, ready to paddle the beautiful Ardeche! The three teams: the Spartans, the Omegas and the Pink Fluffy Unicorns (formerly known as Mushies) set out to what promised to be an amazing time. After paddling for a while, we stopped to do Seal Launches, which is like a giant slip and slide. After a packed lunch, we all swam a rapid and cliff jumped for a while. We got to the Gaud Bivouac early in the afternoon, but suddenly, we were caught in a thunderstorm! We all took cover under a big tent, and continued the story of Willy Wonka. Fortunately, by 6pm the storm had passed and we were able to start preparing the barbecue! Meanwhile, the campers played games like Where Is My Water Bottle? and Hucklebuckle. We all ate dinner in hungry silence after such a busy and fun day!
This morning the campers woke up early in order to get ready for an even more exciting day. We all ate breakfast and hopped into our boats! In the morning we got to paddle many exciting rapids, before stopping for lunch on a nice shady beach, where the campers were able to swim and relax for a little while. After that, we all enjoyed an adrenaline-filled sunny afternoon!
We arrived back to camp and the campers were able to shower, relax and have a nice dinner. We all spent the evening playing petanque, volleyball and football.
These two days have been full of great memories. The campers have been able to experience the river and learn how to work as a team, taking care of each other and making sure everyone was having a great time!
Phrase of the day: You have only failed if you fail to try.
- Breakfast: Fresh bread, jam, nutella, assortment of wheat cereals, yoghurt, orange juice, fresh fruit
- Lunch: Packed picnic lunch
- Dinner: Salad buffet, barbecue burgers and sausages with grilled potatoes, banana boats for dessert!
