Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Rafting day!
After a nutritious and energising breakfast, something very needed in this activities-filled day, we all headed down to the football field for a few matches between counsellor groups. The campers had lots of fun in the sun.
Lunch was something simple but filling: hamburgers and french fries! After lunch we got onto the bus and headed to one of the most popular and loved activities of the programme: rafting. We changed into wetsuits and got into various rafts and GO, down the river! We all had a guide on the rafts with us so it went smoothly; we also stopped at a few points to swim, or rather glide down the river, and jump from a rock. The nature and gauges made everything beautiful and the rapids a lot of fun.
During evening programme we had a very special speaker: Kerry Max Cook. He ended up in prison for 20 years for a wrongful conviction and was sentenced to death; since his charges were dropped in 2016, he has become an activist against the death penalty, speaking across the United States and in Europe, and so here with us too. He taught the campers some important lessons by telling his story.
