Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Wake up for the shake up
Today we "woke up for the shake up" with Mr Beezy.
The morning leadership session was bursting with energy and enthusiasm as we discuss how we are often more afraid of hard work rather than laziness, when in reality laziness is what we should be most afraid of as it is the biggest barrier to success. We explored the importance of communication through various games and got creative as the group was divided up and had to come up with various product ideas and pitch them to the panel of judges. High tech swim suits to platforms for the elderly to learn how to use social media were some of the many ideas our LTC groups came up with.
Just as it started with a blast, it ended with the whole team shouting at the top of their voices Mr Beezy motto: "No grind, no glory!"
After lunch, campers were set loose into the village to complete a set of 24 challenges: carrying a local's shopping, taking a picture with the train conductor and capturing counselors dressed up as animals were some of the many ways our young adults interacted with the local community.
The winning 2 teams had the privilege to share a delicious ice cream with our very own David Allen and the chicken.
After dinner we split the groups into 2 groups. Each group was given the instructions on how to play mafia, then one group went outside whilst one stayed inside. Then the narrator started by identifying the mafia and police, once they had been selected, the mafia were asked to identify their first victim, then the police were asked to identify a suspect. Once these had both done the townspeople woke and the victim died, at this point the remaining players would debate till they had two suspects, the narrator would then ask them to vote out one of the suspects. This would then repeat till the mafia were either identified or killed all the townspeople.
We ran four games, the first was narrated by a counselor, then the campers were given the opportunity to narrate. The campers were very good at identifying the mafia.
Our 3 counselor groups - The A Team, A$$P and The Pink panthers competed in a heated game of running charades. Each team had to run up and collect a word to their team, once successful they sprinted up to obtain the next word.
It was a super challenging which proved how important team work and communication is in order to successful.
