Summer Camp England
International Night Preparation
It is already the middle of the week and campers know their program off by heart now. Hopefully, each day at York Village Camps is different and they do not enter in a boring routine but discover new things every day.
Today two of the programs were lucky and went off campus to have fun. The Reds and the Blues of Activity and Adventure went to an adventure park to challenge themselves on high ropes. With the advice from their dear counsellors, each camper was able to give his best and have lots of fun! It was an amazing experience which made the group even stronger than it was before. Don't worry, the Yellows will do the same tomorrow!
The English program in the afternoon also went on an excursion and visited the Dungeon of York . It is an immersion of more than one hour in the horrible history of the city of York so the kids could learn some culture with entertainment! A frightening experience which filled the campers with excitement and adrenaline.
The rest of the campers enjoyed themselves on camp with some sporty and creative activities. Things are starting to become intense for the football and basketball programs and it is a real challenge for the campers to do four hours of sport every day in addition to the afternoon and the evening activities. However they are in good shape and got the rhythm by now so that they can improve efficiently.
The evening program was dedicated to the preparation for International Night which will take place on Tuesday next week. It is one of our most precious traditions here at York because it is the opportunity to take advantage of the diversity of the camp. Ten teams represent the different countries present here at camp and the campers have to work together to prepare a traditional meal or snack for 300 hundred people and a show which they will present the country or the region to the others. It is challenging and exciting and it allows everyone to learn about each other. A great night that we are all looking forward too!
