Summer Camp England

17th July 2014

Preparation for the colourful Friday

This morning was no exception with all eight of the morning programs beginning straight away after breakfast with our Creative Arts and English programs working on each of their projects whilst Performing Arts continued working on their final Friday show. The footballers and basketballers sweating it out in the gym and on the pitch whilst horse riders and golfers took their opportunity to seize the nice weather.

Activity and Adventure were at it again, this time testing the bravery of our young campers. The Red and Blue Adventurers went rock climbing in Harrogate while the Yellows enjoyed the high ropes course.

After lunch the programs were split up and sent to their choice of activity which today included a session of tennis, volleyball, football, sketching or a dip in the indoor pool.

Today we had to skip our favourite Kangaroo Court to get more time for preparations for the upcoming event of the week - the Big Night . There were 8 teams of different colours and themes. Campers from all age groups and counsellors joined their relevant colour groups and prepare a chant, banner and mascot to represent their team!

Being well and truly worn out from the sun and activity, after dinner Village Camps put on some fun evening programs for each house. The Yellows got to have a pool party with plenty of games, laughs and party food, meanwhile the Reds were playing the exciting War of Colours. The Blue House became the first group to try out the brand new activity centre 'Muggles' for an evening, getting a chance to chill out after a busy week.

Time has flown this week at Village Camps, with no campers or counsellors getting rest between the amount of fun and activity that is going on every day. We have already seen some amazing talents, whether it be on the football pitch, the basketball courts, in the theatre or in the English class room, emerge as our campers begin to feel a little bit more at home here in York. Fingers crossed that our streak of good weather continues and so does the enthusiasm and vitality of this session at Village Camps York!
