Talented Campers in Beautiful York!

The exciting weekend of excursions continued today. After having spent Saturday in the Manchester Trafford Centre, Village Camps took on York by storm. The morning itself was a relaxing one, during which campers had much more free time than usual to catch up on sleep and rest. Before lunch, all campers participated in a room-cleaning competition, so as to start week two fresh and organized.

After lunch all three colours headed off to York for different activities, all of which would allow them to discover some historical sites and appreciate the beauty of York. The Yellows were broken up into groups and each given a small mascot and a list of places to go to. Their challenge was to find all of the different places and take pictures of their mascot in front of them.
Meanwhile, the Reds also partook in a challenge: a pirate scavenger hunt around York. They had to find different places, answer questions, buy specific items and beat all the others back to the meeting place.
The Blues played a life-size game of "Where's Wally" as counsellors hid all over the city and gave campers clues as to how to reach the finish line first.
Finally, with campers familiar with the city and at least some of its history and counsellors needing to tally up scores, all of the campers were able to enjoy some free time to walk around some more and shop a little before heading back to the campus for dinner.

After dinner came the much-anticipated Talent Night. Campers and counsellors of all ages performed for the camp and showed all of their different talents, be it singing, dancing, acting or even magic tricks! With competition put aside and a warm, friendly audience, all of the performers were able to truly open up and show their VC family a little more about themselves.

At bedtime we all felt proud of our fellow campers and counsellors and much more unified and, now more than ever, ready to take on week two!
