Summer Camp England

28th July 2013

Welcome to Session Three!

And so begins session three of Village Camps York!

Despite a few showers and cloudy skies (a quintessential part of an English summer), Session Three kicked off to a bright start as old campers were reunited and newcomers were warmly welcomed into the Village Camps family. This session is more diverse than ever, with our 105 campers coming from a range of different countries such as Lebanon, Vietnam, Mexico and many more.

Throughout the day, our counsellors engaged all campers in a variety of different activities from Arts and Crafts to Team building exercises. They were able to help the counsellors in a decoration challenge, and designed their common rooms and corridors for their colour groups. In the evening, once all campers had joined us, each colour house led icebreaker games, encouraging campers to learn more about each other and build new friendships.

Excitement levels were high at bedtime, as campers and counsellors alike eagerly looked ahead to the two fun-filled weeks to come! Session three is shaping out to be an amazing one!

The VCTV program is an afternoon session that offers extra English lessons to our campers. Our correspondents write about their days, film interviews of campers and counsellors around the campus and ultimately write a newsletter read by the whole camp. Here is their feedback about today!

Yesterday it was my first day. It was so excited because the first day start the fun, we play games to meet new friends, and it's the best day!

It is my first time in the VC and I like it. My programme is Creative Arts. I was only on one lesson, but it was very interesting, funny and amazing. I had new friends from different countries and played games with them.

Village Camps is a beautiful little world who's been exist from 1972 years old. All this years, the children have fun, play and meet friends. They also do activities that they can't do everywhere. There are children from every country!
