Summer Camp England

Goodbye for now, but not forever.

Village Camps York has now seen another session officially end. A summer can fly by so quickly especially in the company of wonderful friends in a new and exciting place. However in true camp spirit nothing was to end without a show and our last day of camp here in York was one that we hope to remember for a very long time.

Today began by firstly celebrating the efforts of each and every activity with our morning programs enjoying their last sessions together. Activity and Adventure took advantage of the summer sun with a big water fight session out on the Big Day field. Basketball had their last motivational speech from Coach Rivers whilst Golf joined in an end of session party with their counsellor Eric. Creative Arts appreciated each of their individual talents evident in their finished projects, meanwhile Horse Riding went off campus for their last session, this time to show off their new skills and enjoy the company of new friends. The English program together with VCTV congratulated themselves on a successful few weeks, celebrating in true British style with some sandwiches and tea.

By tradition the very last day of camp signifies a very important day for two of our biggest programs: Football and Performing Arts as they have the chance to display some of their well-earned skills both on the pitch and the stage. Our first afternoon session meant time in the spotlight for our VC Performing Arts team as they gave an amazing performance of what it means to be an everyday hero. An incredible effort by campers and counsellors alike that had the audience out of their chairs in admiration of the on-stage talent.

Unfortunately the counsellors were not to fare as well in the next session as they competed in the annual campers vs. counsellors football match that drew the whole of Village Camps into a crowd out on the fields. An outstanding effort led by our red and blue campers, together with some missed opportunities by our staff team meant that the VC campers won the title for football champions of session 2 at Village Camps York - big congratulations to the winning team!

The excitement of our last day together was not to end there with the evening bringing our much celebrated Awards Night! From the biggest smile, to the cleanest room and even the 'Future Counsellor' award, we spent the night celebrating the many different talents, personalities and aspirations of the variety of young people we have here at VC. Straight from awards night came the disco, all of our houses enjoying the rest of the night together as one big Village Camps family as they danced the night away.

We hope that this summer has been as unforgettable for our campers as it has been for our counsellors and we can't believe the amount of new memories, new friendships and new experiences we have gained.
This year we must also say goodbye to one of our brilliant and fearless leaders Chrissy Greer who we believe can only go onto bigger and better things, although that doesn't mean we won't miss her and the immense presence she has brought to Village Camps York - Goodluck Chrissy!

Although we have ended Session 2 here at VC we hope that the rest of the summer is amazing for every single one of our campers, both new and old, leaving and returning.
