Summer Camp England

23rd July 2013

Tuesday Already?!

Time is flying by at Village Camps York as we move into the second week of Session 2. By now our campers are well practiced at each of their areas and ready to show off their skills to our counsellors as we complete our morning programs.
It looks like the yellows have especially been working hard as they took on our counsellors in a very close football match during the afternoon session that saw our campers just clinch the victory in the end by one goal! Congratulations to the yellows! .
Whilst our team was doing the campers proud on the field, the rest of Village Camp were also engaged in some exciting activities such as tie dying shirts, making jewellery and engaging in a thrilling episode of capture the flag.
However the most interesting part of our day today was yet to come with the evening session being one of the biggest events at Village Camps: International Night!

For those who don't know International Night is an evening where each nationality that is present here at Village Camps is able to show us something about their country, whether it be a flag, a dance, an anthem or an interesting fact. Each country has been preparing and putting together their own individual presentations for the last week which includes a prepared meal from their home nations.
Therefore the night started off with a large range of delicacies for our campers to try such as ham and cheese croissants from France, bruschetta from Italy, scones from the United Kingdom and many more. After trying some new and unique food experiences it was time for the presentations of each country, designed by the campers themselves.

Every International Night brings something that the audience has not heard before, whether it be through a dance, a song, a speech or an act - every single nation represented puts their full effort into making sure everyone is proud of where they come from and therefore International Night becomes a very celebrated evening at Village Camps.

Tonight was no exception with an amazing effort from each country making for a very entertaining night of cultural experience.
Please have a look at the photos from today to see some of the incredible performances.
