Summer Camp England
Summer Memories
After almost two whole weeks of wakeups, exercise, activity, excitement and challenges any normal person would be tired, stressed and wanting to sleep in. But here at Village Camps, our campers have a very different attitude to life, taking on every new endeavour that is thrown at them and turning each and every day into something amazing. Today was no exception with the second last day of camp continuing as per usual in build up to the final presentations.
Our horse-riding program put their newly practiced skills to work in their first assessments whilst Golf continued to fine tune their swings on the usual course. Meanwhile the football team were training hard all morning in preparation for the big all camp campers vs. counsellors match taking place on Friday.
At the sight of bright blue skies this morning, the leadership team were issued a challenge, this time going on a hike together.
They could have taken some advice from Activity and Adventure who returned from their camp out this morning with many stories of campfire stories and gorge walking.
The Arts programs were being inspired as they worked on the upcoming end of camp show with Performing Arts tweaking and perfecting their individual performances which will also be the all-camp entertainment for Friday night.
However the main event of the day fell as a challenge to our basketballers with the annual campers vs. counsellors match drawing a large crowd to the courts in the afternoon Session C.
Cheers, screams and laughs echoed through the Genesis building as the game came down to a nail biting finish with the campers taking out the counsellors by one basket. Despite the counsellors' efforts and their secret weapon - our camp director Glenn- the basketball program officially took out the title for 2013.
Although Village Camps is sad to see the summer fly by so quickly we are really looking forward to the excitement and fun of the last day of camp. The end of camp performances, speeches, activities and parties are sure to be a fantastic way to end an amazing summer in York.
