Camp Spirit Takes Off!
Village Camps York for 2013 has now officially passed into the second half of the first week and campers are well and truly in the camp routine and spirit. We checked in with one of our English program campers Blanche de Boussac to see what the opinion of Village Camps was so far:
"Some of you might feel a little bit lonely sometimes and that's normal. That's really hard to talk to people who don't speak the same language or doesn't have the same age but don't worry, lucky for us, there are activities which can permit you to meet new people. 2 days ago it was Carnival night, I thought the organisation was amazing and I had fun. There is also as you know it THE BIG NIGHT, actually I don't really understand this activity. Me, I was with a group of total strangers but I guess that's the point right?"
Every single camper from each house has been really working hard the last few days in a range of activities from baking to baseball to painting and drawing, to yoga and even to nails and manicure! There is so much going on at Village Camps that it's no surprise Blanche is busy!
As part of each of our programs, campers also get to take excursions for a day to places that relate to their chosen interest. Today the Performing Arts group got to see 'Evita' the musical at York Theatre with a personalised tour of the venue afterwards. Meanwhile our Activity and Adventure program were out yet again- this time to 'Xscape Rock Climbing' with each of our counsellors pushing our campers to the very limit.
Some of our other activities took full advantage of the on campus facilities and tried out 'Muggles Activity Centre' for the very first time. The evening was full of fun and excitement with the Red girls being issued a challenge: to design, photograph and model a fashion show whilst our Yellow girls and boys were treated to a pool party.
There is no break from fun at Village Camps and the upcoming weekend should be no exception. We're looking forward to Big Night and International Night which are still to come and can't wait to see what the campers have to show us!
