Summer Camp England

1st July 2013

VC York has an AWESOME first day! Keep the good times rollin'!

Day one started with a bang! All campers were woken up bright and early and treated to some beautiful summer sun in York. Straight after breakfast the horse riders left to go offsite and start their very first session with Marina, whilst Eric also took our golf program off campus to a new course.

Activity and Adventure got to play some very exciting games with our counsellors that would have definitely tired out a few and our English program was taken to the Old Hall to write about their first day at Village Camps.

The Creative Arts campers had a very fun session, with Marianna teaching them how to make Pinatas! One of our yellow group campers Angelica described her day in Creative Arts with one word: GLITTER!

Performing Arts got to use the big theatre in the Genesis building for the very first time for some getting to know each other games and other activities. Meanwhile all of our footballers were very busy running around on the pitch, only retiring and coming inside when it was time for some lunch.

The basket ballers were also very busy after a whole day playing on the courts with our very enthusiastic coaches who insisted on getting the very best out of their team. Speaking of motivation, our Leadership program also took our older Blue group campers away for some activities to get to know one another and start learning how to be a great leader in their own communities!

It was a very long and busy day for all of our campers with activities such as swimming, rounders, dodge ball, arts and crafts and many more, all continuing after lunch. Then, after a quick tour of our campus we brought all of our campers together, boys and girls- and had them all join in to some team-building games out on the fields after dinner.

Village Camps 2013 has well and truly begun with no camper or counsellor having any time to rest in between all the fun and activity! We are looking forward to see what is in store tomorrow for our second day of camp and what talents and skills all of our campers have to show us this year!

And here is a camper's description of the day! "Today early morning at 7am we were woken up from our peaceful sleep. We went for breakfast by 7:45am and the food was delicious. The food was very fresh, which I liked a lot. At about 9am all of the campers had their programmes like football, basketball, adventure etc. I had chosen football as I love the sport and I have a great passion for it. The football ground was enormous and the place was perfectly designed for football. I was introduced to this programme by 4 experienced coaches. The first day we were just playing matches as they wanted to test our skills. It was a good day!"
