Summer Camp England

31st July 2015

BIG NIGHT!

It is already the last day of the first week and we made sure that it was unforgettable. Adventure, colours and fun was the plan for today. Most of the nice programs followed their usual schedule apart from footballers who exchanged the field for the indoors swimming pool to relax their muscles. Afternoon was full of diverse sign up activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, Gaelic football and playground adventure. The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to the final preparation of the Big Night!

Big Night, if you wonder what it is, is one of our all camp evening and also one of our best tradition. Basically it is the Olympics of the Camp with an atmosphere that you can only find at York. The camp is divided within 6 districts of different colours and each one has to respect a natural disaster: the Red Unicorns, the Green sirens, the Black Dragons, the White Minotaur, The Yellows Centaurs and the Blue Griffins. The theme and the colour should be an inspiration for chants, a banner and a mascot in order to make the most memorable entrance to the Village Camps Olympics. All the age groups were represented in the different colour districts. Together they used all their energy, efforts and enthusiasm to make their colour district stand out.

After all the opening parade, chants and presentation of the district tributes it was time for number of relay races. Districts competed against each other's and the atmosphere was filled with loud chanting, cheering and celebrations. It was very difficult for the judges to decide which team had the best tribute. But at the end there was just one team winning the amazing pizza party. Congratulations to the WHITE team who managed to win this wonderful night.

Tonight Village Camps has seen a lots of really great team spirit. That is why we at Village Camps love Big Night so much. Each camper was involved and gave his best for his group. A wonderful way to celebrate the first half of the session!
