Summer Camp England

8th July 2014

We are One Big International Family!

Today was the International Night! This is one of our most amazing nights we have at the camp. It is the night when we celebrate our cultural diversity and learn about each others countries. However this kind of event requires a lot of preparation and that is why the afternoon was reserved for rehearsing presentations of the countries, painting flags and cooking national dishes.

But let's not jump ahead. As usual campers spent their morning within their morning programs. Adventure and Activities was running all around the campus to find their counsellors to earn their camping kit for the following day. Footballers were training for the match between the Yellows and the counsellors taking place in the afternoon. And the Basketball program worked hard preparing for their match against the counsellors this Thursday. We are excited to see who'll win this year!

After lunch, Yellows participated in the Counsellors Vs Campers Football Match . Some were cheering whilst others played. Everybody had lots of fun! Congratulations to the winning team!

Then it was finally time for the event of the day. The International Night!First we got to taste all the wonderful dishes that the countries cooked for everyone. And that wasn't easy. Each team, France, UK and Ireland, Germany, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Greece and Turkey, Italy, Spain and South America, North America and Middle East had to prepare a tasting sample for 300 people! This requires a great organisation and planning skills but our campers did an amazing job. After tasting all the lovely food, everybody head to the theatre for the countries' presentations.

Each country owned the stage for 3 minutes. The presentations were very entertaining. We laughed, we sang, we cheered, we've learned new interesting things. Not to forget the amazing banners and flags that the campers made for their performances. Very were impressive how talented these kids are.

After all the food, fun, music and dancing the kids went to bed with a feeling of being a part of a huge international family.
