Summer Camp England
International Night Preparation
What a lovely warm sunny morning in York, England! Day three has started and all campers broke up into their morning activities. Straight after breakfast the horse riders and golfers left to go offsite with Abi and Andrew.
Adventure and Activities with Stevie in the lead disappeared into the forest to discover how to survive in nature. The campers had lots of fun using compasses to find north and building shelters out of natural materials. At the end all the Adventurers practised rescuing their counsellor and transported them in their camouflaged shelters.
After getting to know each other and playing some fun acting and dancing games Performing Arts campers started to discuss different ideas for their show and developing their acting, dancing and musical skills. These guys are lucky to use the big theatre that we have on-site as their working space. The singers have already chosen 3 songs for the show and dancers started to rehearse a choreography for the first dance.
Meanwhile all of our footballers were very busy running around on the pitch, only retiring and coming inside when it was time for some lunch. This morning they practised their motor coordination skills at a number of stations on the football field.
Young leaders in the LTC programme listened to the first guest speaker who talked about respect and empathy. Their afternoon focused on planing the Event X where the campers get to practise working as a team and leadership.
English campers got learn and practise their language skills though interactive fun activities. To mention a few the acted out a scenario in which the campers had to solve out a problem that could happen on holiday and later talked about the author of Alice in Wonderland who found inspiration to write this book in the local area.
In the afternoon in session D all the different countries from our international family got together and started preparing their presentation for the International Night. Each country came up with a national dish and country presentation including dancing, singing and interesting things about each country.
