Summer Camp England

1st July 2014

It's Carnival Time!

It is only the second day of Village Camp York and the atmosphere that the kids and staff has created is amazing. Filled with excitement which you can only find at Village Camps York! The sun was shining throughout the day for our campers and make their day even better. One look at the happy faces of the kids returning from their activities would let you know that they were having a wonderful day. All the nine morning programs took off smoothly and now that the camper got to know each other better ???the energy of the camp??? is even higher!

There is nothing like rock climbing to start a summer camp and the Activity and Adventure program knows this! Secure, fun and challenging are the key words to describe this first offsite trip of our Adventurers. Beginners and more experienced climbers were climbing side by side while supporting and cheering for each other. Now they have tasted a real adventure and have an experience they will never forget!

The Leadership program also went offsite and had a wonderful time at Camp Hill learning about the importance of cooperation, communication and awareness of others through a number of team challenges. There is nothing like the outdoor environment to explore and understand the power of team work!

At the same time the rest of our 9 programs followed their usual schedule filled with fun learning activities and led by experienced program leaders and enthusiastic counsellors. Horse riders and golfers left earlier that everyone else to enjoy the sun on their respective facilities while back at campus, Basketball, Football, Creative Arts, Performing Arts and English started to work within their programs. We are looking forward to seeing the improvements in our campers as well as the master pieces of our Creative Arts' campers and final show Performing Artists!

There is a time for activities and??? a time for Activities! The campers never stop having fun. The afternoon was full of excitement as we have something for everyone here at VC York. Today the afternoon activities included tennis, football, baseball, basketball, dodgeball and dance for the athletes, painting, music and bracelet making for the artists and not to forget yoga and baking for the oddballs!

After dinner and a bit of free time it was time for one of the greatest nights here at VC York. The one and only CARNIVAL NIGHT! Bouncy Castles, Inflatable Sumo Suits and variety of fun carnival stands such as Elephant March or Card Ninja to mention a few. What a great way to finish off the day! In order to win points for their teams the campers had to visit as many carnival stands as possible. It was fun, it was exciting, it was Village Camps! Have a look at the picture gallery and you will see I???m right!

It was another great busy day after which all the campers enjoyed a long night sleep to be in a good shape for the next adventures! "I think carnival night is a very fun night. In fact there is a lot of activities and there is a great atmosphere." Karim, Blue House
