Here on the uncrowded and unspoiled Costa de la Luz coast Village Camps is launching its first ever Surf Camp alongside our challenging Andalucian Adventure Camp and established English and Spanish Language Camps. Just 8 kms from our accommodation in Chiclana de la Frontera, a short drive takes us through picturesque orange groves to the white sands and clear blue Atlantic waters of the Playa de la Barrosa. Importantly, this highly rated beach has Blue Flag status, awarded only to beaches where the sand and sea-water offer high standards of hygiene, health, safety and lifeguard cover. This beach is the base for our new Surf Camp and for most of the exciting activities of the busy Adventure Camp. And the beach is perfect for leisurely beach games and just chilling out. Away from the coast our excursion programme takes campers through the dramatic scenery of colourful Andalucía to visit its historical towns and cities of culture including the picturesque, ancient port of Cadiz and impressive city of Seville.
The Village Camps site is well served by three international airports. Our preferred airports are Jerez Airport (30 minute drive) and Seville Airport (90 minute drive). However if flight schedules for any camper are unsuitable we will use Malaga Airport although it has a much longer transfer time (2 hrs 30 minutes) and is consequently more expensive. If Malaga is the selected airport please apply to Village Camps for confirmation.
The Village Camps base is at the Complejo Campano, an attractive and superbly equipped complex built in traditional Andalucian style. Campers stay in 2-4 bedded rooms with either en-suite facilities or in two adjacent rooms that share a bathroom. Boys stay in their own building, El Pilar, with a shady covered patio and comfortable common rooms for leisure activities and relaxation. Girls have exclusive use of the Casa de las Monjas building which is close by. The girls enjoy its adjacent palm lined, colourful garden. Both boys and girls share the on-site facilities.
The Complejo Campano complex has an impressive range of excellent facilities offering an absorbing choice of leisure and sports facilities for our campers. Amongst the most popular will be the fine Olympic-size swimming pool, the two articial climbing walls, a 200 meter zip line and the basketball courts. This is soccer mad Spain, so no surprise to find that the site has two practice pitches (hard surface) with conventional pitches about 15 minutes away.
Campers who love the open-air have a choice between mountain bike and hiking trails that wind through shady eucalyptus forests. There are modern classrooms for our Spanish and English Language programmes, media centres and a well-equipped 200-seat theatre with outdoor stages and cool patios. One of the most interesting features on-site is an ecological farm where the campers can learn about green issues, the local environment and the traditional method of making their own ecological bread in a wood-burning oven just the way it has been done for centuries.
Off-site the beach provides exciting opportunities for surfing, boogie-boarding, stand-up paddling, kayaking, snorkelling, beach volleyball and beach football.
The typical Village Camps’ day is divided into four main activity periods with two sessions in the morning and two sessions in the afternoon. Campers are assigned to groups according to the Speciality Camp chosen and then by age and/or skill levels. On every weekday morning all campers join the speciality camp that they have individually chosen in advance – Surf, Adventure or English or Spanish Language.
During the first and second afternoon activity periods campers sign up for their individual choice from a selection of activities (see below).
All the activities are organised and supervised (the average ratio is 1:6) by our carefully selected group of dedicated and experienced counsellors. They make a fun, friendly and caring team who will work hard to ensure that every camper has a great time.
Our group will eat together in one of the two spacious dining rooms. The generously portioned meals are varied in content, are nutritious and freshly prepared.
Meals will normally be served at the following times.
17.00 Snack (served when we are on-site only)
The busy evenings are full of challenging games and spectacular events with available time for quiet, relaxing breaks too. Full use will be made of the generous on site facilities including the swimming pool, basketball courts, the theatre and disco. Some of the most popular evenings will be:
Team Big Night – Fast moving competitive games, sports and fun team competitions
International Night - campers are divided into country groups and work together to prepare and serve traditional dishes to the whole camp. Afterwards each group presents on stage a sketch, act, song or dance, typical of their country as part of a colourful and fun all-camp spectacular show.
Last Night Prom Party and Awards Ceremony - with the presentation of camper-awards followed by a farewell disco-style Prom.
Andalusia has a wealth of exciting excursion possibilities from which our excursions will be selected.
On each weekday, Village Camps offers a great choice of ‘sign-up’ optional activities for the two afternoon sessions.
