David Allen: The South African Lazer Tag Pro!
Another amazing day unfolded at LTC camp, filled with inspiration and adventure. Our morning commenced with a visit from a remarkable guest speaker, none other than Charlie Walker, the British adventurer, writer, and captivating public speaker. Charlie's expertise lies in undertaking extraordinary long-distance, human-powered expeditions, which he has accomplished on a bicycle, on foot, by horse, and even by dugout canoe. With accolades such as being a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a four-time recipient of the prestigious Transglobe Expedition Trust 'Mad but Marvellous' grant, his achievements have been featured in numerous esteemed publications, including The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun, Wanderlust, Geographical, Travel Africa, Sidetracked magazine, as well as on BBC Radio 4 and the World Service. To have him share his wisdom and experiences with us was an incredible privilege, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Charlie Walker on behalf of Village Camps and LTC.
Following a delectable lunch, our close-knit group of 28 campers gathered one last time to plan their 'event X.' With enthusiasm and meticulous preparation, they presented their creative proposals for this special occasion, and after an exciting voting process, the chosen 'event X' was revealed. More to come on that.
As the sun began to set, we set off on a thrilling adventure to Villeneuve, where a heart-pounding session of "Laserquest" awaited us. The adrenaline-fueled game of laser tag not only provided our campers with excitement but also offered them an opportunity to venture into new territories and strengthen their teamwork skills. In the spirit of friendly competition, our dedicated counsellor groups challenged the campers to a laser-tag match. Despite their best efforts, the campers met their match in the form of David Allen, our active and formidable South African officer.
The day concluded on a high note, with memories of joy, learning, and camaraderie etched into our hearts. We look forward to more extraordinary adventures and experiences at LTC camp.
