Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Do you have any pets?
This morning we had a talk by Russ, a mentalist and magician. Many of us entered with a bit of skepticism but left with a sense of awe. The morning flew by as Russ kept us engaged through mental skills games and "tricks" as well as talks linking the importance of a positive attitude and active mind to leadership capabilities. He also encouraged us to take an active interest in talking with others and getting to know them by asking questions and really listening to the answers instead of focusing on ourselves, taking the extra step to bring "outsiders" in to get everyone involved. During the afternoon we broke into teams to complete a scavenger hunt throughout Leysin. Some challenges were quite silly, like dancing the Harlem shake as a team and searching for our beloved counselor, Ashe, dressed as Tony the Tiger and snapping a photo with him. Others included helping a local with their groceries, walking an elderly person across the street, yodelling in true Swiss style and participating in sports challenges. After a bit of free time and a delicious dinner we headed down to the forest to play Capture the Flag. Food for thought from today, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it"
