Summer Camp England

22nd July 2018

New adventures in York !

Today campers went to York, a lovely city 30 minutes from the camp. York is one of the highest rated tourist destinations in England thanks to its historic charm and its architecture.

Each colour group had a different activity. Blues and Reds reached the city before lunch while Yellows took time to have lunch at camp.
Yellows enjoyed the beginning of the afternoon in the Railway Museum doing three different activities in it : a photo hunt in the exhibition hall - the craziest photos will win a prize -, a tour in a miniature railway and an immersive experience in the Express train Maillard invented in 1938! They really enjoyed discovering this world and these historical models of trains. Then, they had one hour for shopping and bring back new packages and gifts at home !

Reds went to a treasure hunt through the city. Every game required some team spirit and allowed the kids to discover the best places of the city, The Minster, the Fudge Kitchen, the riverside and some other attractions. They enjoyed some free time to go shopping before coming back to camp.

The blue house did the scavenger hunt, and this time some returning campers help the staff members cho were placed all round York with a few small challenges and games for the campers to complete. They were divided into teams, had to complete the riddles and games as quickly as possible et speak English only otherwise they would have lost points. The team with most points won some very-tasty ice-cream! After that, they also had more than two hours of free time for shopping, exploring and relaxing before heading back to QE for dinner and the talent night!

After dinner and to finish well this first week of camp we had the Talent Night at the theatre!!! Campers of all ages went on stage to show their talent such as : singing, dancing, comic show, playing instrument... The talent show always amazes the whole camp! With a large selection of music and dancing shows, the campers proved that they are true artists.
