Summer Camp England
Day 2! Full of fun =)
Yesterday was our very first day at Village Camps and it was a beautiful and sunny day! Our main goal at Village Camps is to help the kids make new friends from all over the world and help them cooperate and work together as one team. All the programs started with ice breakers games thus the atmosphere in each group was filled with laughter and fun.
Footballers and Basketballers know that the best way to become an amazing team and enjoy their time is to play together! During the first games our coaches Neil (Football) and Max (Basketball) assessed the level of the campers' skills to be able to design a program fitted to their abilities. Similar assessment took place for Golf, Horse-riding, Performing Arts and English. We like to make sure we give our kids the attention they need from us to know their personal abilities and skill levels which helps them develop their proficiency.
Performing Arts started to work on their final session show with the help of our talented Performing Arts Coordinator Caoimhe. Creative Arts started to discover their creative side with the beautiful biljana and finally Leadership and Activity and Adventure programs played ice breakers and team building games before going off the campus tomorrow.
At 3PM, it was time for our All Camp Meeting. Every day at 3PM we hold the Kangaroo Court when 3 counsellors put on some fancy dresses and call a few campers/ counsellors who did something silly during last day. First counsellor is the Judge, Second on is the Prosecutor, and the last one is the Defender (with the help of the rest of the camp of course). Then if the camp decides that the accused people are guilty they get silly small punishments. Kangaroo Court quickly became a favourite part of the day for all the campers and counsellors. At the 3PM All Camp Meeting we also read the Secret Friends Messages. This is an opportunity for the campers to send each other anonymous messages saying things they like about each other, about their counsellors or about the camp.
After dinner campers spent their evening night with their colour groups. The Blue House counsellors organised a race for the campers while Reds and Yellows played fun group games.
After a long and busy day like this one the campers had to go to sleep and get some well-deserved rest for the next exciting day coming up.
