Summer Camp England

15th July 2015

VC York is an international family

It is already the middle of the week and campers know their program off by heart now. Hopefully, each day at York Village Camps is different and they do not enter in a boring routine but discover new things every day.

Today two of the programs were lucky and went off campus to have fun. The first group of activities and adventure went to the High ropes challenge and the second group enjoyed survival skills as I explained yesterday the 2 groups swapped activities!

Horse riding is the second programme that went off site, they went to Yorkshire to the international horse jumping show, where they saw horse races and pony races, there were pigs, goats and cows and many other activities. They also got to taste different Yorkshire food varieties and there was also product being sold.

The rest of the campers enjoyed themselves on camp with some sporty and creative activities. Things are starting to become intense for the football and basketball programs and it is a real challenge for the campers to do four hours of sport every day in addition to the afternoon and the evening activities. However they are in good shape and got the rhythm by now so that they can improve efficiently. Such as for the performing arts programme as well, preparing for their big show next Friday!

The evening program was dedicated to the preparation for International Night which will take place on Tuesday next week. It is one of our most precious traditions here at York because it is the opportunity to take advantage of the diversity of the camp. Ten teams represent the different countries presented here at camp and the campers have to work together to prepare a traditional meal or snack for 200 people and a show which will present the country or the region to the others. It is challenging and exciting and it allows everyone to learn about each other. A great night that we are all looking forward too!
